Large Rugs Make a House a Home
A house requires many things to make it a home. One of the most important things it requires is rugs. Small rugs, large rugs and everything in between help to make a house a home. A rug makes a room comfortable and homey. A rug makes the floor warmer on cold winter days. No one wants to step bare feet down on a chilly floor. Nice, large rugs can cover up those chilly floors and help make the floors much warmer than they would otherwise be. Rugs can also cover up any part of the floor that simply doesn't look good. Sometimes a floor gets damaged and it can be very costly to repair. A nice rug can hide that unsightly spot until it can be repaired. No one would ever know that the spot is any different from the rest of the floor. A large area rug would work wonderful for something like this.
When it comes to rugs there are many choices depending on what the rug will be used for and which room it is in. If you have very large rooms, like in an older home, you will be looking for extra large rugs. Large rugs for a family room or living room are not uncommon. The style on this is completely up to you. The most common rugs for a room that is very large would be large oriental rugs and large contemporary rugs. With these two types of rugs you will be able to find exactly what you are looking for that will match with any color scheme and room style. From the very old home to the contemporary home, your rug needs would be covered. Maybe a large persian rug would work well? It really depends on you.
If you have children, especially young children, you will want to think about getting large area rugs that can be played on. You won't want your young child playing on wool. This could cause them to break out in a rash, or simply just get itchy. You don't really want that. A thick, large area rug of nylon or Olefin works very well in a home that has young children. It is terrific to see a child happily playing on a comfortable rug with their toys. You will know if they fall over they will not be hurt and they will also stay nice and warm while playing on a nice thick rug.
Dining rooms also can use large rugs. Dining rooms that are not overly formal can get away with large wool rugs, however they can also use large oriental rugs. Oriental rugs look especially good under a beautiful cherry table and chairs set. Depending on your particular dining room you may also choose to go with a large contemporary rug as well. You do want to be sure that whatever large rugs you look at for a dining room are washable, even if it is just with a simple cloth and warm water. You do not want a rug that the colors will run if it gets food or a drink spilled on it. You will have to be able to clean whatever type of rug is in a dining room.
Everyone also needs rugs in their bathroom. Depending on the size of your bathroom you may want large bathroom rugs. A bathroom floor can be very chilly when coming out of the shower or bathtub and you will want some bath rugs to be sure. Shag bathroom rugs are very common and rather fluffy and warm. Many bathrooms do not have heat, especially in older homes, so rugs to cover the chilly floor is a must. Most rugs for bathrooms are washable and they can come in styles and colors that will match any possible bathroom design.
What about getting rugs for bedrooms? When it comes to large bedroom rugs you can really have your pick. A large wool rug would be wonderful to step down on when the floor is chilly. A large contemporary rug would be great as well. It will really depend on the size of your bedroom as well as what style you like, how fluffy you want your rug and the colors available. Most bedrooms simply have a large area rug, however it is up to you what you choose for a rug in your bedroom. Most people do not show off their bedrooms, so a rug in your bedroom is more for comfort than show.
Another place people sometimes put rugs is outside. There are large outdoor rugs for this very reason. If you have a trailer or camper, large outdoor rugs are great for inside your screen room. Stepping down on a rug is much nicer than stepping down onto dirt, sand or rock. You won't have to put on shoes to go into your screen room, which is a plus in itself while camping. Another idea is for you to use an outdoor rug for your porch. If you spend a lot of time on your porch a rug would make it even more comfortable than it already is. However a rug on a porch needs to be able to get wet and not be ruined, which is why they make outdoor rugs. The same can be said for a patio. Patios normally are a simple cement pad and that is not very comfortable at all. A patio rug makes it much nicer. There are all kinds of outdoor rugs, made of all types of fabrics. All are made to withstand the elements, allowing you to enjoy your rug outdoors without worry the rug will be ruined.
Large rugs will work in any area of your home that is large enough, and has enough floor space to allow it. Rugs bring a homey feel to any house, even one that is brand new and doesn't have that homey feel to it yet. By bringing large rugs into your home you will make it more comfortable and warm. A rug is a wonderful place to relax, to read and to play with a child. Bring rugs into your home, you'll be glad you did.
